It turns out that they rarely fail and it isn't normally a stock item by itself. Nevertheless, they took a unit that was bundled with a tank kit they had in stock and reordered the part for stock so that they could sell it to me that day. The person at the counter also explained some wiring differences between the new part and the one I brought in to show them. He brought out a furnace controller they had in stock so that he could point out exactly where this replacement would need to draw its power; since the replacement needed an external power supply and the original did not.
